Senior Level Technician
Description:
Second City Computers, Inc.
provides high quality and primary IT services to its small to middle market
clients by taking full responsibility for the management, maintenance and
reliability of their LAN/WAN environments. We are seeking a Senior Level
Technician for our growing and successful technology team.
Highly visible senior level
network technician.
Provide direct support for clients and guidance for fellow staff. Analyze
support issues, and propose and implement solutions. Develop proactive, growth
plans for client IT infrastructure. Lead the implementation of new hardware and
software installations and cross platform system migrations. Support sales and
purchasing staff in development of winning solutions for new client
opportunities.
Responsibilities
Manage the scope and methods
of our proven Preventive Maintenance program that includes scheduled, remote and
on-site procedures ensuring excellent uptime performance of both hardware and
software.
Supervision of in-house
public and private networks that include: public servers for DNS, Mail,
Applications and Linux/Apache as well as a multi-server internal network.
Design, implementation,
management, monitor and troubleshoot of all software and hardware aspects of our
majority Microsoft based, client IT infrastructures, including:
• Active Directory
• Mail Systems
• Security
• Backup Systems - Typical environment
includes: Veritas BackupExec 8.6 - 9.1, DDS, DLT or VXA hardware.
• Infrastructure - Typical environment
includes: Cisco router(s) and PIX firewall, VPN, T-1 or DSL and Dell or
HP/Compaq Windows servers/workstations.
• Cross Platform -
Management of existing mixed
environments and migration strategies for Netware and legacy Microsoft systems
to the latest Microsoft Platforms.
Project Management - Manage project risk and
drive delivery of project/solution strategies. Manage and create time lines,
project plans, and communication strategies to ensure successful completion.
Escalate issues as appropriate to attaining performance goals.
• Strategy - Assist Sales team with
gathering key customer information, determining service readiness, and
developing and implementing appropriate projects and plans.
Technical
Skills:
The ideal candidate for this
position must have experience designing and implementing AD security, schema
modifications, tuning and implementing Windows Server 2000/2003. Additional
requirements include a thorough understanding of DNS, DHCP, WINS and DFS, AD
Backup and recovery techniques, Windows 2000/2003 Group Policy and solid
experience with Exchange 2000/2003. Possess an in depth knowledge of Cisco
routers, switches, firewalls, PIX, and VPNs. Strong
experience with Veritas backup solutions. The ability to independently
troubleshoot and resolve problems, and provide direction to junior level/
support team members is critical.
In addition, the candidate
should possess a BA/BS in a technical field, or equivalent work experience.
Candidates must have a Cisco certification of CCNA or higher.
Must also maintain an MCSE certification in Windows
2000/2003.
Soft
Skills:
Must be a team player and
able to mix well with sales and technical staff. Excellent verbal and written
skills. Able to create technical project documentation like operations manuals,
quick reference guides, project plans, status
reports, architectural diagrams, and or training guides.
